The LeaderShop To Hold Annual La Grange Rocks 5K, Partners with LADSE, Helping Hand Center and Community Support Services To Enhance Diversity and Foster Inclusion
May 07, 2018

LA GRANGE, IL (May 7, 2018): For 16 years, The LeaderShop has hosted the La Grange Rocks 5K Run/Walk, a family fun event for local area residents and all interested runners. On the evening of Friday, June 8, this year, The LeaderShop will welcome the La Grange Area Department of Special Education (LADSE), the Helping Hand Center and Community Support Services as its partners in sponsoring the race for participants of all abilities, including those in wheelchairs or with special needs. Registration for La Grange Rocks 5K is now available online at www.theleadershop5k.org.
La Grange Rocks 5K will include an All Ages one-lap quarter mile race, a quarter mile Wheelchair Race, and a Kids’ (age 11 and younger) One-Mile Race in addition to the 5K Run/Walk. What makes La Grange Rocks 5K especially fun are live youth bands that line the race course and play at the post-race party, where registered participants will be treated to food and drinks. Awards will be given to the top three 5 K finishers in 16 different age groups, as well as to the top finishers in the Wheelchair and Kids’ Mile Races. The La Grange Rocks 5K Run/Walk is a CARA-certified race.
The proceeds from this 5K race event will be used to support the many programs The LeaderShop provides for youth in the local area. The race is part of The LeaderShop’s year-long 40th anniversary celebration of its inception and the beginning of its long and successful history of building leaders and changing lives. Dedicated to positive youth development and the belief that the community leaders of tomorrow are created in the youth of today, The LeaderShop serves more than 1,000 local area youth in elementary through high school each year and fosters the development of their confidence, knowledge and leadership skills. The agency aspires to give an ever-growing network of youth the tools, confidence and passion to want to make a difference in their communities and their own lives.
