LA GRANGE, IL -- Friends, supporters, board members and staff of The LeaderShop celebrated 40 years of service to local area youth at the agency’s annual Party4Youth and raised more than $68,000, which will be used to support the agency’s many programs. The LeaderShop works with local area elementary and high school students to empower them to become the community-minded leaders of tomorrow. The agency’s many programs reflect its mission of helping teens build their confidence, knowledge and leadership skills, encouraging them to strive to make a positive difference in their own lives and in the communities where they and their families live.

Held at the Pub at the Max (4750 S. Vernon Avenue in McCook), the Party4Youth annual fundraiser featured a dinner buffet; an open bar including wine, beer, and soda; a full cash bar; a silent auction; a wine pull; and Bids for Kids. In addition, The LeaderShop continued its tradition of commitment to the community by collaborating with local area leaders in its “Rally 2 Donate.” For that activity, community and school leaders agreed to be “ambassadors” for the Party4Youth and chose a charity to which 25% of all funds they raised will be donated. The LeaderShop has undertaken this collaborative effort as part of its mission “to empower youth to become community-minded individuals through diverse programs that foster confidence, knowledge and leadership.”

Special highlights of the evening were remarks made to the audience by a young grammar school student who explained why she enjoys being in The LeaderShop’s mentoring program; remarks by an adult alumna of the agency about how her participation in The LeaderShop’s programs as a high school student gave her the confidence to meet life’s challenges; and an inspirational talk by an adult alum whose life and that of his siblings was turned in a very positive direction through his involvement with The LeaderShop and the adult role models he met as a result. In addition, Party4Youth attendees had the opportunity to talk one-on-one with youth from The LeaderShop and were treated to a special performance by Watch My Feet, the agency’s youth performance group.
