FreezeFest! 2018
Event Description:
Warm up your weekend at an ice festival where you can stroll our charming Village, admire 24 glistening ice carvings in front of local businesses, watch an ice sculptor at work, and meet some ice princesses named Anna and Elsa.
FreezeFest! is organized by the La Grange Business Association with support from the Village of La Grange, the Rouso Group and dozens of other neighborhood businesses.
Check out intricate artistry in motion - using a chainsaw, hammer and ice pick - at a live ice sculpting demonstration in front of La Grange Village Hall starting at noon on Saturday and sponsored by Smothers Realty Group, Impact Dance and Drs. Girgis & Associates.
Your little ones can meet the beautiful ice princesses, Anna and Elsa, up close - compliments of Princess Party by MC - and take their pictures with them from 2:00 -3:30pm at the La Grange Theatre, 80 S. La Grange Road. Princess attire for all is encouraged; donations accepted for the Ann and Robert Lurie Children's Hospital.
You can also tour a display of gingerbread houses that look good enough to eat at participating retailers. Students of the Culinary Arts Program at the College of DuPage have created sweet treats for display in La Grange from December 7-21. Fans can vote for their favorite gingerbread house in the People’s Choice Award at each location or online.
Stops on the Gingerbread House Tour are: Aracely’s Bakery, Anderson’s Bookshop, Eye Mechanix, HLB Salon, Horton’s Ace Hardware, JAYNE, Olivaceto, Photographic Depot, Rocky Mountain Chocolate, TATES Old Fashioned Ice Cream, Vino e Birra, We’re Nuts and Whisper Me Home.
The gingerbread house tour is sponsored by Kathy Dierkes State Farm Insurance.
After December 21, the festive houses will be donated to the group residences at Helping Hand Center, so others can enjoy them too. Helping Hand Center serves more than 600 children and adults with disabilities by providing exceptional programs and services.
TATES Old Fashioned Ice Cream Shop, 25 S. Ashland, will also offer $5 Gingerbread House Craft & Scoops throughout the weekend, where youngsters can create their own mini houses and enjoy a scoop of ice cream. Guests can call ahead to reserve a spot or drop in, subject to availability.
